Stash Busting

As if I didn't have enough on my plate already, last night I decided to join a Craftster swap. I can't help myself. Swaps definitely bring out the creative side in me and this one was calling my name. The theme? Christmas in July Stash Buster! As you can see on the right, my fabric closet is bursting with all sorts of fabrics (only two are Christmas themed) that need to be made into something wonderful. It also means that I won't be having to make trips to the fabric store to find 'the right material' for a given project because everything I'll be using will already be at home.

Later on today, I plan on making a trip to Joann's. Simplicity patterns are on sale and I'm interested in picking up this dress. I've seen this made up twice now and have loved the results. While I'm there, I am going to attempt to keep from bringing home any more fabrics! Wish me luck.

Cute dress pattern! I am still in love with the bubble hem look so I hope it lasts for a few more seasons. Our Washington Post fashion editor made fun of the look a year ago and said no one would wear it. I knew immediately that she was so wrong about that!

Besides, there is no downside, really. When the "bubble" does burst, we can just release and re-hem.

I can't wait to see your version of the Simplicity dress. I recently made it for my daughter and she loves it!
On her the bodice ran a little big and the straps were long.

I hope you managed to make it out of the store without buying fabric. Unfortunately, I did not. Jo-Ann is having such good deals on fabric right now...too hard for me to resist!

Hi Stacy! I see you found you a Swap Group!! ;-) I need to get to work on mine. That's a pretty good idea to have a theme to use fabric from ones stash. I know it wouldn't hurt me to downsize mine instead of adding to it. Good luck with leaving JoAnns without buying anything else. I've never been able to do it!!!
