A great video on the basics of shrink plastic. After your done watching that, be sure to check out these fun tutorials on making shrink plastic rings, keychains, and of course, pins!
A few years ago, I purchased a microfiber hair turban for Taylor - she loved it! I never recreated the look, but after seeing this tutorial by mamaphunk, I think I might just change my mind!
BeSewStylish's sister site CraftStylish just launched (I thought the first issue of CraftStylish was fantastic). Speaking of BeSewStylish - the new issue is on newstands now!
Free fabric time! Here's your chance to win a yard of Laurena Poplin Blue.
Handmade Nation, an upcoming documentary on the DIY culture, is holding a raffle to fund their production costs. Up for grabs - a tote filled with all sorts of crafty goodness. Tickets are $2.00 each or 6 for $10.00. [link via Craft]
It's that time again, time for Simplicity Pattern's Creative Fashion Contest. Just send in your completed project from any Simplicity pattern for your chance to win a trip to Paris.
Until I read this post on Craft, I had no idea that you could create your own temporary tattoos using a home printer. Unfortunately, the link that they give for the printer sheets is for a UK company. However, after some searching, I found that DecalPaper.com sells the same (or at least similar) product for those of us in the US.
I may have to get this book just because of the title - The Big-Ass Book of Crafts (Actually, I'm really serious about checking this book out, I understand it's jam packed with all sorts of great ideas - does anyone have this book that could give me their opinion?)
A quick tutorial on how to use a technical croqui.

I've been in discussion with a friend to try the shrinky dink rings and the DIY tattoos, and my SewStylish arrived earlier in the week. Despite the coat on the cover looking like the most hideous housepainting "happy hands at home" disaster, the articles on draping and fixing sleeve problems are FANTASTIC. So don't let that disgusting coat put you off! At least this means I won't be even slightly tempted to buy the accompanying pattern like I was with the Fall Fashion issue.
PS: when my mom was overdue with me, my dad took her for a drive over the dirt road by our house for hours to coax me out!

I have the "Big Ass Book of Crafts!" I bought it because of the title. But, I love it! It's beautiful to look at, first of all, and lots of inspiration for fun and unique projects. I did try to make the magazine bowls, but that didn't work out too well---due to my not following the instructions. The writing is fun and approachable, too.
It's a winner!

Thanks for the link Stacy!
I love the hair turbans, I really do use them every freaking morning. If I could get away with wearing them out in public I would. :D

Thanks for the shout-out to the shrink plastic video! We put another one up this week, coloring your shrink plastic, along with a downloadable project--a shrink-art pendant.
