New Fabrics
Well, we're back and (almost) ready to get back into the swing of things of work and school (can you believe that Taylor still has one more day of vacation before she heads back from the Christmas holiday?)! Right before we left, I took Taylor with me to Needle Nook and we shopped for fabrics, this is what we came home with:

Taylor would like to sew again soon - or at least she selected some fabric that she would like to sew with. The white and black cat print is what she's chosen to make a pair of capri pajama pants. Since they are knit, I told her that I would teach her some different techniques on working with this fabric. I'm leaning toward just having her do the whole thing on the regular sewing machine before introducing her to the serger.
I fell in love with the black and white polka dots. It reminded me of the adorable lounge wear that Burda had in their December 2007 issue - so I snagged the last few yards of this material! I am debating if I'll use it for the Burda designs or in a top, but either way, I know that I'll be putting it to good use sometime soon.
Did anyone make any fabric purchases to start of their new year, already?

I haven't purchased any new fabric yet this year, but I was given a stack of fabric from a dear friend. It was awesome Japanese fabrics that I probably never would have splurged on for myself. They are amazing! Can't wait to make something with them!
One day left, right .... :)

I've decided to put Taylor 'to work' today and help clean the house - she'll probably want to go back to school after that! ROFL.
I'm so jealous - Japanese fabrics!

My kids went back to school today.
So, today will probably be spent getting the final Christmas decorations all packed away and trying to return the house to "normal". Hopefully tomorrow I will start sewing.
First on my list is some pajamas for my boys. I should have gotten these done before Christmas, but it didn't happen.

Cute fabrics! My kids have a "snow" day today and there is not a flake of snow where we live - what a bummer for them!

Cats!!! I too saw them as owls at first glance!!!
Cute fabrics - hope Taylor enjoys sewing as much as you do. Happy Cleaning!

Oh, I thought they were owls too at first glance, cute!!!
I am currently on restriction from buying fabrics until my current stash is reorganized, which may take awhile LOL

Well, looking at them again, they look like owls too. Or a cross between an owl and Felix the cat! LOL.

Very cute fabrics. I too had to do a double take to see the cats and not the owls I originally saw!I did get some gift cards to Joann's for Christmas so of course I've made a purchase there already and last night I just made a purchase with Denverfabrics. I got a few things for some maternity clothes and each year for valentine's day I sew something "matching" for my daughter and her best friend(they're 5). This year I'm going simple and doing vintage aprons that my daugther has had her eye on for some time. It's so exciting that Taylor is interested in sewing. I just can't wait until my daughter is old enough to really get behind the machine. We do a little together now but her attention span is only good for so long! Have fun on your last day of break.

Those are great! I picked up some cute fabrics for the new year, but am determined to use up some of the fabric in my stash before investing in a bunch more...

Cute fabrics!! I totally saw them as owls but now I can see cats too. I will be making a trip to JoAnn's this weekend for some new fabric though I NEED to sew up some of my other projects.

I like black and white prints, too. Yours are fun.
I have been deleting all pattern/fabric sale emails unread for weeks. My stash of both is too big to ignore any longer. LOL. My next purchase will probably be just thread.
I did buy some satin tubing late in 2007, with which I made a head band to match my NYE dress plus some other colors of hair ties and bands. Doesn't really count for 2008.

Hey Stacey! thanks for poppin' in to my blog. Lauren had the day off too! I had her doing laundry and sweeping the stairs. When is that wee bairn due? I'm an OB Nurse and wish I was not too old for one more. Oh well. Are you planning on breastfeeding? or is that way to personal?

I'm glad to hear everyone is putting their children to work today! Taylor can't complain she's the only one. LOL.
The little guy is due April 16th - which is just enough time to try to get this house in order before the big day1

Cute fabrics. I can't wait to see what you and Taylor make.
I have not made any fabric purchases yet in 2008 but I did receive a Hancock Fabrics giftcard for Christmas and I hope to use that soon.

GREAT fabric choices! Taylor's cat print is especially darling!
I haven't made any fabric purchases yet, but do need to figure out what my daughter, Olivia, is going to make for her final project. We will probably be doing that shopping tomorrow afternoon.

You don't even want to know how much fabric I got for the new year. Ebay fever and then some. Now if I can only find the time...
