Ramblings
It's been so busy this week that it seems like I have a ton of things on my mind - mostly lots of inspiration!
First off, I received two of Amy Butler's new patterns - the Gumdrop Pillows and Feather Your Nest. After spending some time looking through them, I've decided what to do with my (future) sewing room - Lotus.... The Tea Box colorway is perfect for some of the existing fixtures and artwork for that room. I plan on making some machine covers, a few organizational projects from Amy In Stitches, some Gumdrop pillows to place in my "reading area", and a simple smock\apron that I can put onto my dress form (so that it's easy to take on and off and coordinates the whole room). I also plan on ordering some of her new fabric to make the Nicole Mallalieu Hobo bag that Zaneta sent me!
While we're on the subject of Amy Butler - did you know she has a new book coming out in October? Amy Butler's Midwest Modern: A Fresh Design Spirit for the Modern Lifestyle will cover everything from fashion and interiors to home gardens! Guess what went on my Amazon wishlist?
Also on my wishlist.... New Jalie patterns! Aside from their skate\dancewear collections, they've come out with two top patterns - their version of a twist top (not only does it come in children's to adult sizes, but also maternity, and a choice of modesty panel, sleeve options, and optional flounce!) and a Criss Cross Top (not pictured).
I'm back into salvaging my aging t-shirts.... I've ordered Save This Shirt: Cut It. Stitch It. Wear It Now! it should arrive with, Bend-the-Rules Sewing: The Essential Guide to a Whole New Way to Sew
- which is due to come out next week.
I don't plan on sewing this up, but this Big Breakfast set is too cute to not to check out! [link via decor8]
The new Knitty is up!
My Patrones Joven arrived yesterday - I wish I had more time to sew, I could make this entire magazine!

I love all the Amy Butler things. Your room will be fabulous. I can't wait for the new fabric line to show up somewhere.
I looked at the bend the rules book at Borders today. I ddn't get it because I didn't have enough time to really check it oout and at first glance it looked like a learn to sew book so I'll be interested to here a review on it when you get it. Hopefully I'll have more time next time I am at borders so I can actually look at it too.

Thanks for the link to the new Amy Butler fabrics. I think my favorite pattern is "wood fern." There's a McCall's skirt I'm going to make with than one and one other print.
