Happy Valentines Day!

When Taylor was so sick last weekend, I purchased a Highlights magazine for her to glance through while she laid in bed (or the bed-couch she made downstairs). One of the things that caught her attention was a Valentine mailbox in the shape of a guitar. So this year, for her class party, that's exactly what we made.

For whatever reason, our version doesn't look as good as the magazine's (maybe it's the fancy lighting or the fact that we used two different styles of paper), but Taylor is happy with her creation - plus she keeps strumming it like she's a rock star.

So, I want to wish everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day! What kind of goodies is everyone getting today?

UGH - 2 FEET! We were very lucky and bypassed snow yesterday (sorry, not trying to rub it in).

We also had some snow - only about 3-4 inches but really heavy, icy snow that our snowblower did not like. I did the best I could - we have a 200 foot driveway.

That exercise made up for the pilates class being canceled today. Doll Club was also canceled. So I really had plenty of time to deal with the snow, anyway.

Now I am going to make a simple chocolate pie (the pudding kind) for our Valentine's dessert. I'll toss a few candy heart jimmies on the whipped cream. haha

But I do love Valentine's day! I really like the Guitar box Taylor made with you. When I was a kid we would make fancy mailboxes at school a few days before. But I was often absent on 2/14 - home sick with a flu, strep, earache, cold, whatever. Chicago winters were brutal and we all walked to/from school TWICE a day (we had to go home for lunch unless we lived more than a mile from school!!!!)

Sometimes, I make and send a few valentine cards but I didn't this year. I did bake fancy Valentine sugar cookies and sent them off to my married son and his wife, with a RED, Paul Frank Lego t-shirt for the baby.

One fun thing I found recently is a brown envelope full of old valentines - which my husband received from classmates - looks like about 3rd grade (1955-ish). His mom saved them for him. If I can locate that envelope, we'll have some fun looking at those. again!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

We got a day off of school due to the huge ice storm we got last night.

And as if that wasn't enough, we also got a power outage for most of the day.

Bah.

St. Valentine has not been nice to me today.
