Back On The Internet
Finally, the internet is back! For almost two days our home internet was down (yesterday's post came from Bret's office) and it's finally returned. I suppose it's because of the extreme cold weather (our internet sees to go down when it's very cold outside), sleet, and freezing rain we've been having. Before all our bad weather started yesterday, I ventured out to Joann's for their pattern and fabric sale - because you never know when you'll be trapped inside (like today) and need some sewing supplies.
Here's what I came home with:

2.5 yards of pink and green floral camo (70% off), more monkey ornament flannel - the same material that I used for Taylor's pajamas (at $2.45 for over two yards, I couldn't resist making pj bottoms for myself), some white dot cotton that I plan on using for some pajama bottoms (I used a coupon), a black and purple brocade fabric, and a purple and black cotton floral - both fabrics will be used to make a purse from Better Homes and Garden's Quilts and More magazine (thanks again Anary). Suprisingly, Joann's didn't have any of the spring Simplicity patterns out, so I went over to Hancock's to pick these two up. I probably won't get to sewing them anytime soon, but it's nice to have them on hand, just incase.
Now that I have internet assess again, it's time to catch up on blogs, mail, and sewing forums and then get down to sewing!

I wasn't as fortunate as you in the fabric area - my store had nothing appealing. I really, really like the monkey ornament flannel! Those pj bottoms will be so much fun to wear.

I'm glad you bought that simplicity top pattern. I know there were lots of negative thought about it on Pattern Review but I think in the right fabric it would be really cute and comfortable. I have it on my list to purchase.
I don't have a Joanns or hancock anywhere even close to me. Nearest Joanns is 3 hours away and Hancock even further. so I look for the 5o% off sales that I find at the LFS or Walmart.

I visited our local Jo-Ann's also this weekend and was very pleasantly surprised to find the Robert Kaufman Inked fabric that you used in the Amy Butler High Street Messenger Bag. I'm psyched because I have that pattern but I think I'll use the fabric for something else. I probably would never have picked it out, but it's an awesome print and looks great in person. I was going to order it online and couldn't believe it when I saw it at JoAnns along with some other awesome fabric.

My closest Joann's store is about 15 minutes from my house (not too far away considering we live just outside of Wichita. It also helps that it's located in a mall (is anyone else's located in a mall too?) so it's also convenient!
I'm hoping that the Simplicity pattern turns out alright - I'm keeping my eye out for some cute fabric to try it out on. It looks like it will sew up quickly, and I love tops like that!
Aimee, I can't believe you found some at Joann's! You're so lucky! I may have to make it to our other Joann's in town - it seems to have a larger novelty print section, maybe they have some more great prints like the Inked there!

We seem to have lose internet access when it is extremely windy.
Looks like you had another really great trip to Joann's. I wish I could have that kind of luck at the one near me. There is one a bit further away, but I don't get out in that area often. When I do I end up spending too much time at the mall and can't make it there. I need to plan a trip just to visit Joann's.
