Wee Wonderful Ornaments

Earlier in the week, Bret took an extra long lunch and we went to a 12:30 showing of Borat. Afterward, I headed off to Borders - where I picked up the latest copy of Cutting Edge magazine.

Cutting Edge is Hancock Fabric's version of Joann's craft magazine. However, Cutting Edge seems to have their act togther and have composed a much better magazine. It covers a little bit of everything - fashion, home decorating, knitting. This issue even had a great article on celebrities who sew!

The thing that attracted me to this issue is the pattern for the cutest ornaments from Wee Wonderfuls. So adorable, in fact, I had to make some:

In other sewing news: keep your eyes open for the Pear Pincushion pattern this weekend....we're working on getting the pattern uploaded so that enlarging it won't be necessary! With the end of the year just around the corner, we're also talking about making some site changes and redesigns (you know out with the old, in with the new) - so let me know what you like, don't like, and what you'd like to see in the upcoming year. Speaking of the site, if anyone notices problem pages (funky images, etc.) feel free to send me an email and let me know. I use Mozilla as my browser and rarely check to see how it looks in Internet Explorer - Bret and I happened to notice that there was some weird stacking of images on some pages of the site, they've been fixed, but if anyone sees anything else like this in the browser they're using let me know!

Lastly, for those who had read about our PS3 quest in previous entries.... well, it's no suprise, we're empty handed. Bret has now decided that we're going to get the Nintendo Wii that is released this weekend for our anniversary present. I'm not so sure how much this present is for me anymore....next year, I'm asking for jewelry!

Hey Stacy!

The ornaments are fantastic! Did the magazine have patterns or did you do your own? That magazine looks great, wonder if I could find one around here. The only bookstore I have handy is Books-a-Million which is not the best. :-( Great job though.

The magazine had the patterns, but you'll need to enlarge them on a copier. They also had cute patterns for children's room's (like a bear skin rug, a giant ladybug, and a mounted dear head).

If you have a Hancock Fabric's near you, you can pick it up there too!

I wish I had a Hancocks near me, but I do enjoy their magazine anyway. Isn’t Wee Wonderfuls great!?

Oh I know how you feel! Because I make jewelry my husband told me that he thought I wouldn’t want him to by any because I can make my own. What??!!!! Yeah good one!

Hi,
I have one little problem when I get to your site. The scroll on the side always ends up at a half way point and the June 6 article on the jean skirt appears. I am quite capaable of scrolling, just a little glitch.

On another note, I find your information on patterns and stores to be great. I just got my first 2 patterns from hot patterns, I am impressed so far.

I can't believe you have some of the Wee Wonderfuls from the magazine made already! I got my issue in the mail well over a week ago and haven't even enlarged the pattern yet! Were they as quick as they seem? I thought I would make them as Christmas gifts for my Sunday School kids.

They were extremely quick to make up. The handstitching on the faces took the longest to do - mostly because hand stitching is not my strong point. I'm thinking of making up some more, I have some Christmas prints that I've been hanging onto for quite some time now that would look great as these ornaments.
