Ready To Send Holiday Cheer

This is it! I'm done! I've completed all the items that I'm sending off for my Christmas Stocking Swap, including, the stocking.

Here's the stocking, itself. What a booger this thing was to make. Considering the fabric I used, I wanted this stocking to have a little more untraditional shape. The only one that I could come up with was an elf shoe design. I made my own pattern, never thinking that once I sewed it up, the curl at the end would sprial down. After thinking about it for several hours, I decided to both tack it to the stocking to give it some lift and to stuff the end (it's not very functional anyway). When I added the lining, I gave it a 'nub' instead of the curl to bypass the stuffing on the end. For the cuff, I gathered some of the lining material to make a flounce. That turned out to be a mess. My machine(s) did not like how thick the material got and the edges looked horrible. I wound up binding the edges to give it a finished look on the inside. It looks better, but if I could do it over again, I would add the ruffle first then the lining.

With this said, my package is finally ready to send off:

The photo on the left is everything unwrapped - in addition to everything I made, I added a candy dish full of kisses and a Kansas mug stuffed with hot chocolate packets and candy canes (two of my swap partner's favorite holiday treats). The picture on the right is everything wrapped up. Sadly, I can get only 3 of these items into the stocking - everything is too large otherwise. I guess if I wouldn't have wrapped them, everything but the kitty would have gone in. Oh well, it's more fun to rip open the paper anyway!

WOW! What a bounty. You may become the most popular swap partner ever!

Fun elf boot! Is there room for a small round bell or shiny ball or bead bobble at the end of the toe curl?

Wow! Remind me to be YOUR swap partner if I ever do a swap. What a wonderful collection of surprises.

How wonderful! I really like the idea of something nont-traditional, like the elf boot stocking.

You've been a busy crafter!

I tried a bell, but the only size I had was too small looking on the boot. You're right, that's what it needs, though!

This whole swap really got me in the holiday spirit. I may actually sew up some Christmas gifts this year - early!
