Unconventional Purchase?
Earlier in the week, I had gotten an email from Needle Nook about some new fabrics they had received in their shop. They had such a huge list, that I couldn't resist stopping in.
And this is what I walked out with:

As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to have the sweater knit (on the left) - and I had thought that I had seen it somewhere before. Ann pointed out that it's the exact fabric that Kwik Sew used for their catalog photo of 3435! So of course, I had to pick up the pattern too! In addition to that, I bought some wonderful red, gold flecked slinky. I intend on using this material for a top that was in the Burda World of Fashion August 2006 issue.
So now that I've talked about my conventional purchases, I have to confess that I've made a very unusual one. Let me start off by saying that I am completely fascinated by these shirts (Brad Pitt recently wore one in an issue of People magazine). Basically, they are a flesh tone or white mesh with tatto images printed on them, and they are a little pricey. I spent half a day searching for some sort of material that would be similar to the Sleeves Clothing, but I suppose they have their material specially made for them. So, when I came across some tattoo sleeves on Ebay, I thought that I woud give them a whirl - with the intention that I would add them into a short sleeved baby tee. However, Taylor thought that they were so funny, I'm not sure that I'm getting them back anytime soon. Here she is modeling the fake tats:

The description is unfortunately not very descriptive - not sure if it is solid fabric, mesh, whatever. They do not show it on a model; the one photo is small with the front, back, and sleeves flat and SEPARATED - so the design can be seen in full, I guess.
