So Much Fun

I've been busy working on my Suzy Homemaker Craftster Swap projects (so, Miss Vicky, if you're reading this entry, no peeking).

Since my fabric arrived, I decided to get to work on the apron. At first, I was just going to use a generic apron style, but after trying to figure out how I was going to embelish it, I realized it just wasn't working. So, I went back to the drawing board - and decided to use the Bon Appetit apron pattern as the base for this project.

Basically, I took the apron facing and used that as the red top portion of the apron. From there I drew up the Wonder Woman logo. I decided against making the intricate Linda Carter design and went with the DC comic version instead. I used fusible webbing to iron the design to the apron top and tacked it down with a 'loose' satin stitch (not quite the tight stitching on a satin stitch, but not quite big zigzag either).

From there I added the gold lame for the belt and ties. I cut out the rest of the pattern from the blue and white star fabric. This fabric is is much heavier than the red cotton that I used for the top portion of the apron - if I would have known this, I would have purchased the red fabric in more of a canvas type material instead. To finish off the whole look, I added a bit of braided cording for her "lasso of truth".

I'm sure that I've rambled on enough about this project and what you really want to see is the end product. Well, here it is!

This is probably the most fun that I've had creating a project (not to mention an apron) in a very long time!

That apron looks awesome! She is going to love it. It inspires me to get out all the fabrics I have bought to make aprons and all my apron patterns and get going.

Stacy,

I love this apron, and I'm sure that my wife would too!

Is there any way I could convince you to make one for me to give to her?

Thanks,

Chip
