Move Over Macy's, I've Made My Own Top
I took everyone's advice yesterday and decided to keep working on my Burda tunic. The rest of the top went together without a snag, until I hit the lower back portion of the top...... What's wrong with the lower back, you say? There wasn't one! I searched all over my sewing area and realized that I not only forgot to cut that particular piece from the fabric, but that I didn't even bother to trace that piece off. Fortunately, I had plenty of leftover fabric and managed to produce this:

I was so thrilled after sewing it, that I immediately wore it out (with my Built by Wendy City shorts) and went shopping (more on that tomorrow)!

(Almost A) New Top For The Weekend
Yesterday, I should have packed. I had good intentions of putting numerous boxes together, but my sewing machine called my name.....
I spent much of the morning putting the Burda tunic together and I have to say, it's looking pretty good. Since I'm using a knit, I've omitted the back zip - I wish I would have remember that before I started sewing the band on because I decided to rip out the stitches that I had just put in and make it one continual piece. Reminder to self - stretch stitches are a real booger to rip out, plan ahead, plan again, and sew once. Here's what the back currently looks like:

Now that the bands are sewn on the front and sleeves, I'm ready to tackle the front pieces and under the bust banding - I'm dreading that part, it has both pleats (which is screaming for puckers) and a 'point' to give it that inverted 'V' look. This time I'm basting then sewing with the stretch stitch! If all goes well, I will have a completed top by the weekend. Now the question I'm asking myself, "should I sew or pack?"

Stalking Pincushions
After days of stalking the Betz White Etsy shop, I finally broke down and bought her Cup 'o Joe Pincushion kit this morning. I couldn't help it - it's just too cute to pass up!
While I wait for that package to arrive, I'm working on the Burda tunic top (yes, finally). I'd like to get as many WIPs (Works In Progress) off my table before we move! I also would like to have that finished before my new Gorgeous Fabric arrives. Last night, I had a thought that I would use my new dot jersey for the Hot Pattern's Good Karma top. Now I need to decide if I'm tracing the pattern off like I normally would or just cut right into it. How do you all handle the new Hot Patterns patterns?

Well, Finally
I don't know what to name this post, other than what it is. It seems like I've been planning on making my Burda Tunic for ages, but with all the excitement going on here, haven't been able to. Well, finally, I can say that I've now begun working on it. It's so official, I even added it to my project sidebar!
As for today, I hope to pack up a few more small boxes and head over to Hancock Fabrics for their Vogue pattern sale and maybe hit Joann's to see if their Craft is out (I have a coupon burning a hole in my pocket). If all goes well, I may get to start sewing on the tunic!
What are your sewing plans for today?
